Trout Summer by Jane Leslie Conly
Summary:
Shana and her brother have recently been forced from their home with their dad and have jumped states to live with their mom. Now stuck in Maryland they must find new ways to entertain themselves. After trying to adjust to the city the two need to get some nature in. They convince their mom to let them go fishing in a canoe down the river. Halfway through the fishing trip the duo has the crazy idea to float all the way back down to Virginia, things don't go well.
Favorite Quote: "There wasn't a life preserver in the shed that wasn't lumpy with spider webs"(90). I like this quote because it seems ironic to think that all the life preservers are covered with spider webs. It just shows how little people cared about the safety of people in the past.
